Microsoft has suspended the global distribution of the emergency out-of-band update KB5002907. The update was originally intended to restore upgrade capabilities for systems that had not received updates for over 90 days.
Following the deployment of KB5002907, numerous Windows 11 users reported issues with Office 2016 and Office 2019. The primary problem involves the loss of activation information, causing the software to appear as unauthorized.
In rare instances, the update may lead to the complete uninstallation of Office applications. The issue primarily affects users within the Current Channel and Monthly Enterprise Channel of Microsoft 365 installations.
Microsoft has confirmed it is investigating the reports of malfunctioning Office software. Affected users are advised to reactivate their purchased products or perform a fresh download and installation of the affected Office versions.
