Xbox head Asha Sharma is initiating three additional rounds of layoffs scheduled for October, November, and January. These measures are part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at improving the financial performance of Microsoft's gaming division.

Since taking the role in February, Sharma has already eliminated thousands of positions and consolidated several internal studios. Her strategy focuses on reallocating resources toward major gaming franchises and key publishing units, such as Blizzard Entertainment.

The current reorganization involves a complete overhaul of technological infrastructure and sales strategies. Sharma, who replaced Phil Spencer, emphasizes corporate management principles over the previous leadership's approach to gaming culture.

Market analysts note that Microsoft's gaming business is valued at $21 billion. While the restructuring continues, experts question the long-term role of gaming within the company, especially as Microsoft shifts its primary focus toward artificial intelligence.
