Microsoft has granted Arkane Lyon an additional month to secure a new buyer. The studio, known for developing Redfall, is currently transitioning out of the Xbox division as part of broader organizational changes within the company.
The extension follows a series of significant restructuring efforts at Microsoft Xbox this year, which included approximately 3,200 layoffs. Several other studios, such as Double Fine, Compulsion Games, and Undead Labs, have shifted to independent operations, while Ninja Theory faces potential closure.
French labor laws prevent Microsoft from immediately shutting down the studio, necessitating a formal negotiation process to find an acquisition partner. The original deadline for finalizing a deal was set for November 13, but the company has now extended this window.
The future of Arkane Lyon remains uncertain as the search for a partner continues. It is currently unclear how this transition will impact the development and release of the studio's upcoming project, Marvel's Blade.
