Microsoft has integrated the TableView control code into the WinUI development branch. This new component aims to provide native support for structured data display, bridging the gap for developers who previously relied on third-party solutions or the Windows Community Toolkit for grid functionality.

The TableView control currently supports essential features such as sorting, filtering, editing, and virtualization. According to the GitHub documentation, the component includes interface examples modeled after the Windows File Explorer and Task Manager, designed specifically for row-and-column data structures.

Despite these additions, the control remains in the early stages of development. It currently lacks support for data grouping and multi-row selection, limiting users to single-item selection only. Microsoft has not provided a specific timeline for when this feature will be available to general users.

The introduction of TableView is expected to reduce the reliance on web-based wrappers for complex table operations in Windows applications. Once fully implemented, it will allow developers to build native interfaces that handle structured data more efficiently within the Windows 11 ecosystem.
