Microsoft is positioning Windows as a platform for hybrid intelligence, allowing AI agents to operate locally or via the cloud. This strategy aims to balance compute requirements with security and management needs for organizations and individual users.
The company has launched Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), now generally available on Windows 11. This tool allows users to define and enforce policies regarding file and network access for AI agents. MXC also integrates with Microsoft Agent 365 to provide governance at scale.
To support these capabilities, Microsoft introduced new hardware, including the Surface Laptop Ultra. This device features the Nvidia RTX Spark chip, which is designed to enhance local AI performance. The move marks a shift in the PC market as Nvidia expands its presence in a sector previously dominated by Intel and AMD.
