Microsoft is expanding its Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) technology to include Nvidia GeForce and Intel Arc graphics cards. Previously, the feature was limited to AMD Radeon hardware based on RDNA architectures and select Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 chips.
The technology pre-compiles shaders, allowing them to load alongside the game. This process significantly reduces game launch times, which previously could take up to 15 minutes for some users in titles like Gears of War: E-Day.
Gears of War: E-Day is the first title to implement this broader support. Microsoft plans to roll out the technology to all GeForce RTX GPUs, Intel Arc B570 and B580 cards, and iGPUs in Core Ultra Series 2 and 3 processors by the end of this month.
Currently, the ASD functionality is restricted to games distributed via the Xbox store on PC. The company aims to broaden the scope of supported hardware and platforms to improve overall performance and reduce wait times for players.
