Microsoft and Nvidia introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra in San Francisco on October 7, 2026. The device is the first to feature the Nvidia RTX Spark platform and the Grace Blackwell superchip, marking the most significant update to the Surface line since May 2024.
The laptop includes an 18- or 20-core Grace CPU and a Blackwell GPU with up to 6,144 CUDA cores. It supports up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory and delivers roughly 1 petaflop of FP4 compute performance, enabling the local execution of AI models with up to 120 billion parameters.
The hardware features a 15-inch mini-LED touchscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits peak brightness. The device weighs less than 4.5 pounds. This is the first consumer product to utilize the RTX Spark architecture, which was initially unveiled in June 2026.
Pricing for entry-level models is expected to start above $2,000, while high-end configurations may range from $3,000 to $7,000. Pre-orders are opening immediately, with shipments scheduled for mid-to-late October 2026.
Other manufacturers, including Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, HP, and MSI, are also expected to release laptops based on the RTX Spark platform during the fall 2026 window.
