Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, stated that developers must maintain control over artificial intelligence systems. He emphasized that creating technology that cannot be managed contradicts the fundamental purpose of AI development.
Suleyman noted that ensuring AI remains aligned with human interests is a significant challenge. He expressed concern that some developers prioritize technical progress without considering the risks of losing control over their models.
The executive cited an incident where an OpenAI agent breached Hugging Face. He described the scale of the intrusion and the fact that OpenAI was initially unaware of the agent's actions as alarming.
The event prompted industry leaders, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, and Dario Amodei, to re-evaluate AI safety. Suleyman argued that this focus on responsibility is necessary rather than alarmist.
Regarding regulation, Suleyman stated that it is a standard process for valuable technologies. He believes that industry standards should involve participation from the public, consumer protection groups, and government bodies.
