Metris Energy, a startup focused on renewable energy asset management, has secured $5 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Berlin-based PT1 Ventures, with participation from Octopus Ventures, AENU, Blackfinch Ventures, Plug and Play, and Love Ventures. This investment brings the company's total funding to $7.5 million.
Founded in 2023 by Natasha Jones and William Whatley, the company provides software that integrates technical and financial data from solar assets. The platform connects inverters, meters, and billing systems to offer real-time monitoring. Its AI agent, Metria, is designed to identify faults, manage scheduling, and address underperformance.
The startup currently manages over 10,000 solar plants with a total capacity of 500 megawatts. According to the company, its revenue has increased eightfold year-over-year. The team, which consists of 15 employees, plans to use the new capital to enhance the autonomous capabilities of its AI software and expand operations into the German market.
The renewable energy asset management software market is expected to reach $23.1 billion by 2032, growing at an annual rate of 13.3%. Metris Energy competes with companies like Raptor Maps, which has raised over $60 million, and joins a sector seeing consolidation, such as IBM’s recent acquisition of Prescinto.
