Metaplex has introduced the MPL-3643 token standard, designed to support permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities on the Solana blockchain. This framework allows issuers to implement onchain compliance controls, including investor verification, jurisdictional restrictions, and lockup periods.

The new standard is based on the Ethereum ERC-3643 model and is built using native Solana infrastructure, specifically the Token-2022 program, the Solana Attestation Service, and sRFC 37. These components enable compliance enforcement without increasing transaction costs.

A key feature of the standard is the support for reusable investor identity verifications, which can be applied across multiple token offerings. Metaplex founder Stephen Hess stated that the framework is designed to maintain the composability of the Solana network.

At launch, the standard is compatible with platforms and wallets including Orca, Raydium, Jupiter, Phantom, and Solflare. This integration allows compliant assets to function within existing trading venues rather than requiring specialized platforms.

Currently, MPL-3643 is in a limited-access alpha phase. Developers and issuers can request access via the official Metaplex website, though a date for general public availability has not yet been announced.
