Meta is preparing to introduce a new version of its smart glasses, currently known under the codename Luna, which will feature no camera. The device is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Meta Connect event scheduled for next week.

The Luna glasses will be equipped with six microphones to facilitate interaction with Meta AI and the Muse AI agent, as well as integrated speakers for audio playback. The absence of a camera allows for a slimmer frame design, making the device resemble standard eyewear.

The company plans to release the new glasses in October, offering two distinct styles: Clubmaster and Burbank. This move follows public privacy concerns regarding the existing camera-equipped models, which have faced bans in various locations due to unauthorized recording incidents.

In addition to the Luna project, Meta is expected to showcase its new augmented reality glasses, codenamed Phoenix, at the same event. These AR glasses are designed to project virtual workspaces or movie screens and are currently scheduled for a market release in 2027.
