Meta launched its autonomous AI agent, Muse, on September 8, 2026. The application initially reached the top of US app charts, accumulating over five million downloads within its first 22 days.
By October 7, average daily downloads decreased to approximately 165,000, marking an 8.1% decline from the previous week. The number of daily active users reached about 2.73 million as of October 6.
Growth in net daily user additions slowed by 62.4%, falling from an average of 198,000 in mid-September to about 74,000 by early October. App reviews also declined by 11.6% to 4,716.
On October 9, Hunterbrook Capital revealed a short position in Meta Platforms, citing the cooling momentum of the Muse application, including the drop in downloads and user engagement metrics.
Analysts attribute the slowdown to limited integration with platforms like Amazon and ongoing user concerns regarding privacy and security, as the agent requires access to personal data.
