Meta released its AI agent, Muse, on September 8, 2026. Within two weeks, the application reached the top of the US app store charts, recording between 2.5 and 3.4 million downloads. The tool performs multi-step tasks such as travel booking, email management, and shopping, operating within a dedicated virtual machine for data privacy.

The free version of Muse provides approximately 100 million tokens per week. Currently available on iOS, Android, and the web, the service is scheduled to expand to AI glasses and a dedicated hardware device named Muse Charm in December 2026. Nat Friedman of Meta noted that the design was influenced by the open-source project OpenClaw.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman publicly described Muse as a good product but stated he does not view it as a significant threat to his company. Following the launch, Meta stock experienced double-digit percentage growth throughout September 2026, which analysts attributed in part to the rapid adoption rate of the new AI agent.
