Meta launched its personal AI agent, Muse, on September 8, 2026. The system operates in CPU-only environments powered by AMD EPYC Turin processors, specifically the 128-core EPYC 9D25 models. Following its release, the agent surpassed 500,000 daily active users and led US app store rankings.
The launch triggered significant movement in semiconductor stocks. AMD market capitalization briefly exceeded $1 trillion in mid-September 2026. During the same period, Intel shares rose by approximately 12%, while Arm shares increased by about 17%.
Market analysts estimate that CPU-to-GPU resource ratios for agentic workloads range from 4:1 to 40:1. Forecasts indicate the server CPU market could exceed $120 billion by 2030 as demand for agentic AI compute grows.
Reports suggest that OpenAI’s competing agent, Dots, also utilizes AMD EPYC hardware. For AMD, the adoption of its chips by Meta and OpenAI serves as validation of its server processor strategy for the agent era.
