Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the company has reached the frontier of artificial intelligence development. Despite industry calls for a coordinated slowdown, Meta intends to maintain its aggressive investment strategy.

On October 12, 2026, Meta launched two new models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, expanding its Muse platform. These models compete directly with offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic.

The company's Muse personal agent, released in early 2026, previously recorded 6.6 million downloads and 1.8 million daily active users. OpenAI subsequently released its own agent, Dots, three weeks later.

Meta projects capital expenditures between $130 billion and $145 billion for 2026. Infrastructure lead Santosh Janardhan noted that over $100 billion will fund data centers, custom chips, and nuclear energy capacity through 2035.

Leadership for these initiatives includes Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang and AI products lead Nat Friedman, both hired with nine-figure compensation packages.
