Meta has released the source code and software development kit for its Muse AI agent, enabling developers to build custom hardware. The tools support standard platforms including ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, with the company providing assembly instructions for various form factors.

Proposed designs include an ESP32-S3 based device with a 1.75-inch AMOLED screen, an HDMI stick for television control, a remote-like controller, and a mini-tablet featuring an E Ink display. These projects utilize Meta's Spark AI models to facilitate voice-based interactions.

The company also developed the Muse Home Link, a disk-shaped USB device designed for smart home management. Meta is producing 5,000 units of this hardware, which will be distributed to new Muse subscribers in the coming weeks. The device connects to Wi-Fi to execute voice commands.

Users can employ the Muse agent to control lighting, operate televisions, or manage document printing. Meta cautions that these experimental tools are intended for advanced users, noting potential risks such as hardware failure or voided warranties during the development process.

The community has already begun implementing the technology, with enthusiast Federico Viticci integrating the Muse agent into an Xteink e-reader to create a portable smart display. Meta emphasizes that the platform is designed for experimentation and personal projects.
