Meta stock has declined by nearly 8% since Mark Zuckerberg sold shares worth $21.4 million in September. The executive offloaded his stake on September 24, when the stock price was approximately $778, while the closing price on Friday was around $719.
Data reveals that Meta executives and directors conducted 172 stock transactions over the past six months, with zero insider purchases recorded. Notable sales include CFO Susan Li with approximately $95 million, COO Javier Olivan with about $24 million, and product chief Chris Cox with $13 million sold on September 9.
Despite the selling activity, SEC filings indicate that many transactions were pre-arranged under Rule 10b5-1 trading plans or were related to tax obligations. Some filings explicitly clarify that certain transactions do not represent a standard sale of assets.
Wells Fargo maintains a price target of $1,000 for Meta, representing a potential upside of nearly 40%. This outlook is contingent on the company's AI investments generating significant revenue growth, though rising infrastructure costs may impact future profit margins.
