Meta has integrated PayPal into its Muse AI assistant, allowing users to complete purchases directly through the agent. Muse, which launched on September 8, functions as a personal AI assistant accessible via a dedicated app or WhatsApp. The integration aims to streamline the checkout process for PayPal customers across the company's global merchant network.
The Muse assistant previously launched with Stripe's Link payment service. According to reports, Link currently supports over 300 million users and is accepted by more than 1 million businesses. For transactions at non-Link merchants, the system generates single-use virtual cards that users authorize directly within the chat interface.
Following its release, Muse reached the top position on the Apple App Store within 10 days. PayPal is actively expanding its AI-driven commerce capabilities, having previously announced a multiyear strategic partnership with Google in September 2025 to develop standards for agentic commerce and integrate payment infrastructure with AI tools.
In October, PayPal also expanded its collaboration with Mastercard to incorporate the Agent Pay platform into its checkout wallet. PayPal executives have stated that the company expects agentic payments and digital identity solutions to play a significant role in the commerce landscape starting in 2028.
