Meta has expanded the capabilities of its Muse AI agent, enabling it to make purchases directly from Walmart, Gap, and Best Buy. Announced by Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang, this integration allows the assistant to handle shopping for groceries, electronics, and apparel.

Launched on September 8, 2026, Muse operates within the Muse Secure VM environment to protect user data. The agent is powered by the Muse Spark 1.3 model, which supports a one-million-token context window. Payments are processed via Stripe Link, utilizing single-use cards, with additional support from Shopify and PayPal.

The service is available to US residents aged 18 and older via a dedicated app, web interface, and WhatsApp. Users can choose between a free tier or paid subscriptions priced at $20 per month for the Power plan and $100 per month for the Maximum plan.

In its first two weeks, the Muse app recorded between 2.5 million and 2.8 million downloads, frequently topping the US iOS App Store charts. Meta is currently investing heavily in AI infrastructure, with annual spending projected to exceed $130 billion.

Future developments for the platform include potential integration with AI glasses and the release of a successor to the current model, codenamed Watermelon.
