Meta has released its AI assistant application, Muse, for macOS. The software integrates with native Mac applications, allowing the assistant to interact with files, messages, calendars, notes, and mail directly on the desktop.

Users maintain control over the data the assistant accesses through an opt-in system. Meta stated that the application requires explicit user approval before executing any sensitive actions.

The launch follows the earlier release of Muse on mobile and web platforms, where it reached the top of the U.S. App Store charts. The company is currently competing with other AI agents, such as Instinct, which is reportedly raising funds at a $10 billion valuation.

Both Muse and Instinct have recently accelerated their development cycles. As part of this push, both services introduced voice calling features this week. Mark Zuckerberg noted that the development team is shipping features at a rapid pace.
