Mercedes-AMG has officially scheduled the market launch of the GLC 53 4MATIC+ for October 29. The vehicle features a new 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine, replacing the 2.0-liter unit found in the current GLC 43 model. The new powertrain delivers 455 horsepower and 600 Nm of peak torque.
The engine integrates a 7.5 kW electric auxiliary compressor alongside a traditional exhaust turbocharger. An overboost function allows torque to reach 640 Nm for 10 seconds. Additionally, an integrated starter generator provides 17 kW and 205 Nm of support to improve throttle response and fuel efficiency, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The chassis includes the AMG dynamic control system, Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and RIDE CONTROL variable damping suspension. An optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package adds a Race mode, active engine mounts, and an electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip differential. This model also introduces a Drift mode to the AMG SUV lineup.
