Meituan has signed the 2026 Labor Rules and Algorithm Consultation Agreement following a meeting in Beijing with delivery rider representatives. The agreement focuses on compensation, dispatching rules, and labor protection.

The platform will increase the billing weight for difficult orders, such as those involving heavy or bulky items and deliveries requiring stairs. Riders will also receive higher compensation during extreme weather conditions.

Meituan continues to enforce a policy that eliminates penalties for late deliveries. The company is also refining its dispatching algorithms, delivery time limits, and merchant food preparation time estimates.

The company is expanding its 'stop-the-clock' pilot program, which pauses delivery timers at traffic lights. This feature, launched in July, is expected to cover over one million riders by the end of the year.

Future efforts include implementing pension insurance subsidies to reduce the financial burden on riders. Relevant government departments and experts will monitor the implementation of these new measures.
