According to MegaFon's cyber threat monitoring system, the number of users with malware on their smartphones increased by 34% in the summer of 2026 compared to the same period last year. August saw the most significant rise, with a 77% year-on-year increase in infected devices. Android trojans remain the primary threat, as they can steal data, intercept notifications, and grant remote access to attackers.

While malware infections grew, the volume of blocked suspicious calls decreased significantly. The number of blocked calls dropped by 31% in June, 41% in July, 75% in August, and 73% in September compared to the previous year. Despite this, scammers continue to utilize phishing sites and account takeovers in messaging apps to deceive users.

Data shows that 30% of identified phishing resources are linked to investments and cryptocurrencies, while 21% target social networks and messengers. Experts warn that attackers often combine telephone attacks with the installation of spyware disguised as legitimate applications. Users are advised to download software only from official stores and keep their operating systems updated.
