MegaFon, Bureau 1440, and Yadro have successfully tested a hybrid mobile communication system in Russia. The demonstration involved integrating a terrestrial mobile network with a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation to transmit data between Krasnoyarsk and Moscow.

During the test, an end-user device in Krasnoyarsk connected to a Yadro base station, which then routed data through the Bureau 1440 satellite network to a video conferencing site in Moscow. The demonstration took place at the Digital Solutions forum.

This hybrid architecture aims to provide high-speed internet access to remote industrial sites, geological expeditions, and emergency zones. It addresses the challenge of delivering connectivity to areas where building traditional ground-based infrastructure is difficult.

Alexey Shelobkov, CEO of ICS Holding, noted that the project represents a strategic integration of domestic technologies into a unified communication system. MegaFon CEO Khachatur Pombukhchan added that this technology allows the operator to expand coverage into territories lacking traditional infrastructure.
