Mecka AI, a startup based in Toronto and New York, has secured $60 million in a Series B funding round led by Sequoia Capital. New investors include NVIDIA, Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung, and M12, while existing backers such as Kindred, Framework Ventures, and Neo also participated.
The company, which develops training data for humanoid robots by recording human movements, has raised over $120 million to date. This includes a $60 million Series A and an $8 million seed round. Reports suggest the latest financing values the company at approximately $500 million.
Founded by Josh Gao, Jason Chong, Mogen Cheng, and Duy Nguyen, Mecka AI captures data using sensors and proprietary hardware. The company reports that its run-rate revenue exceeded $100 million in June and projects reaching $300 million by the end of the year.
The startup plans to use the new capital to scale its data infrastructure, expand its research laboratory, and increase commercial robot deployments. As of June, the company employed approximately 40 people and is currently hiring across research, hardware, and operations divisions.
