Mecka AI, a startup focused on collecting and analyzing human motion data for robotics training, has secured $60 million in a Series B funding round. The investment was led by Sequoia, with additional participation from Nvidia and Microsoft’s venture fund M12.
The company, established in 2024, operates by compensating individuals to record themselves performing routine activities, such as vehicle repairs or coffee preparation. Participants utilize body sensors and smartphones to capture the necessary data, which is then used to train humanoid and other robotic systems.
The startup aims to replicate the data-labeling model used by companies like Scale AI and Mercor for large language models within the robotics sector. The funding follows reports that the company was approaching a valuation of $500 million.
The robotics data market is seeing increased activity, with competitors like XDOF reportedly discussing a Series B round at a valuation of $1.2 billion. Established data platforms, including Scale AI and Micro1, are also diversifying their operations to include robotics training data.
