Maserati is reportedly developing two new electric vehicles, a mid-to-large-size SUV and a large GT, in collaboration with Huawei and JAC. The company currently intends to prioritize the launch of the electric GT model.

The production strategy involves an SKD model where body shells are manufactured in Hefei, China, while final assembly of luxury interiors and vehicle calibration will take place at Maserati plants in Italy.

This partnership aims to reduce production costs and utilize existing manufacturing facilities in Cassino and Modena. Maserati will retain control over overseas sales, targeting markets in the Middle East, Italy, France, and Germany.

The collaboration follows a period of financial decline for the brand. In 2025, Maserati reported global shipments of fewer than 8,000 vehicles and an adjusted operating loss of €198 million, representing an operating margin of negative 27.3 percent.

Under the proposed arrangement, JAC will manage vehicle engineering and manufacturing at its Maextro plant. Huawei is expected to lead product definition and provide core technologies, while Maserati will focus on styling and international distribution.
