London-based AI startup Mantic has secured $25 million in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Microsoft M12 and Balderton Capital. Previously, the company raised approximately $4 million in pre-seed funding in 2025.
Founded in 2024 by Toby Shevlane and Ben Day, Mantic focuses on medium-term forecasting for geopolitical and economic events. The team includes former employees from Google DeepMind and Citadel. The company utilizes a methodology it terms judgmental forecasting, which combines human-style reasoning with historical data backtesting.
The startup gained recognition after its AI system outperformed all human participants and nearly all competing bots in the Metaculus Cup held this summer. Mantic plans to use the new capital to scale its operations, enhance model accuracy, and expand its team. The company reports interest from global enterprise clients and government agencies.
