The controversy began after a testing video from Dongchedi showed that the brake pedal brackets of three Maextro V800 vehicles fractured during continuous emergency braking tests. The platform noted that these tests represent standard driving conditions rather than extreme scenarios, and the repeated failure at the same location suggests potential safety risks.

Lu Fang, chairman of Lantu Automobile, addressed the situation by posting photos of his company's own brake pedal bracket, highlighting the use of multi-layer high-strength steel beams in its construction.

In response, Maextro issued an official statement asserting that its braking systems are developed and validated according to standards exceeding national and industry requirements. The company reported that no such failures have occurred in real-world user scenarios since the first deliveries.

Despite the test results, Maextro emphasized that user safety remains its top priority. The company announced plans to optimize the design of the brake pedal bracket and will offer a free upgrade option to all existing owners of the vehicle.
