Lunacy Audio has launched Nova, a platform designed for creating and distributing custom music plug-ins. The system allows users to assemble software tools using pre-built effects blocks and AI prompts rather than traditional text-based coding. This approach aims to make the development process accessible to those without deep programming expertise.

At launch, the platform offers 10 distinct plug-ins, including instruments like Drift Cassette and Silhouettes, which focus on vintage and ambient soundscapes. These tools feature simplified interfaces similar to the Native Instruments Play series. The company plans to release Nova Builder, a tool that will enable users to create their own plug-ins or modify existing ones.

Nova instruments function directly within a web browser or through a dedicated host plug-in compatible with standard digital audio workstations. CEO Casey Kolb emphasized that the platform is designed for collaboration, allowing users to share and iterate on each other's creations. The company is currently sharing developer diaries to gather feedback from the music community.
