A shopper in Kuwait City discovered three Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSDs hidden inside an Asus Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4 expansion card. The buyer purchased the hardware for $30 at the Souq-al-Juma flea market, which is the largest in the region.
The total value of the three drives is estimated between $1,300 and $1,500, as individual units are listed for $444 on Amazon and $499 on Newegg. The Asus expansion card itself typically retails for $79.
The Asus Hyper M.2 card allows for the installation of additional M.2 drives using an x16 slot usually reserved for GPUs. In this case, only three of the four available slots on the card were populated with drives.
