The Linux Mint development team announced the restoration of hibernation support in the operating system. This decision follows previous issues where hibernation caused excessive battery drain, sometimes depleting laptop batteries within 2 to 3 days.
The updated system includes a new GUI page for managing power settings. Users can now configure specific modes such as suspend, hibernate, suspend-then-hibernate, and hybrid sleep. A dedicated dropdown menu allows for easier configuration and automatic detection of potential sleep mode issues.
The distribution now features a new system monitor called Superlight. It provides detailed metrics on CPU, memory, disk, network, and I/O usage. Additionally, the tool displays battery status for the device and connected peripherals, while offering deep analysis of storage usage by individual applications.
The default Gnome terminal has been replaced by Velocitty. This new terminal offers a cleaner visual interface, tab management with an overview feature, and support for custom color palettes. These updates aim to improve the overall user experience for those transitioning to the platform.
