Lenders Stonebriar Commercial Finance and Wingspire Equipment Finance are bundling loans for AI hardware, including high-density GPU servers, into asset-backed securities. Institutional investors are showing increased interest in these bonds as a way to gain exposure to AI infrastructure growth while maintaining structured protection.
Wingspire, a portfolio company of Blue Owl Capital, finalized its largest asset-backed security deal, WEF 2026-1, on September 24, 2026, totaling $407.07 million. The underlying collateral pool is valued at $438.18 million and includes 211 contracts across 63 borrowers. AI-related assets currently account for approximately 18% of this pool.
The firm has rapidly expanded its securitization program, closing deals of $201 million in 2024 and over $292 million in 2025. In 2025, Wingspire funded $701.3 million in volume, a 66% increase from the previous year, and held $683 million in net assets as of June 30, 2026. Additionally, the company secured $140 million in August 2026 for AI GPU cloud infrastructure.
Stonebriar, based in Plano, Texas, has been active in equipment securitization since 2015. Its latest transaction, SCF 2026-1, represents the firm's 15th deal in this sector. The initial pool size for this offering is approximately $958 million, which is more than double the size of the collateral pool managed by Wingspire.
