Ledger has officially requested that all distributors and retail partners in six Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong immediately suspend the sale of its hardware wallets. The affected regions include Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia, alongside Hong Kong.
The company initiated this measure to facilitate an investigation into reports of tampered devices. Ledger stated that the only confirmed incidents of tampering remain localized within Southeast Asia. The manufacturer is currently working to identify the specific point in the distribution chain where the unauthorized modifications occurred.
This directive follows a previous request issued to the reseller CryptoBilis to halt all sales and shipments. The investigation gained public attention on Oct. 9 after reports emerged regarding stolen cryptocurrency linked to devices purchased through that specific retailer. Ledger emphasized that there is no evidence of compromise within its own infrastructure, systems, or direct sales channels.
Despite reports from users in other regions, including Europe, regarding suspected tampering, Ledger maintains that it has not verified any fund drains associated with devices purchased outside of Southeast Asia. The company continues to monitor the situation as the investigation into the tampering source remains ongoing.
