Ledger has announced Atom, a new hardware cryptocurrency wallet designed to function as a companion device to a user's primary smartphone. The device runs on a Qualcomm Dragonwing chip and features a 6.77-inch 60Hz OLED display, a single rear camera, and a 4000 mAh battery.
The wallet operates on two systems: Android and Ledger OS, with the latter running on a secure element to isolate sensitive transactions. It includes a physical privacy switch that disconnects power to the camera and microphone at the circuit level to enhance security against unauthorized access.
Ledger has partnered with OpenClaw to integrate AI agents that can perform financial tasks without gaining full access to wallets, requiring user confirmation for transactions. The device supports encrypted messaging, with decryption handled within the secure Ledger OS environment.
The manufacturer guarantees Android updates for five years and spare parts availability for at least seven years, including user-replaceable batteries. The design incorporates physical anti-tampering measures intended to prevent hardware-based data interception.
Pre-orders for the Ledger Atom Founder’s Edition are currently open at $849, requiring a refundable deposit of $100. Following the official market launch, the price of the device will increase to $899.
