The hybrid version of the Lada Azimut SUV will be equipped with a Russian-made traction battery. The development and production of the unit are handled by the company Systems of Autonomous Energy, which is part of the Itelma group.
The vehicle utilizes a series-parallel powertrain layout. The internal combustion engine powers the front wheels, while electric motors drive both axles to provide all-wheel drive capabilities.
The battery uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry with prismatic cells. The design includes a thermal management system intended to maintain performance across a wide range of temperatures.
The proprietary battery management system monitors voltage, current, and temperature for each cell. It includes specific algorithms for cold climates, such as preventing charging below 0 degrees Celsius and preheating the battery before high loads or fast charging.
According to the developers, the LFP battery offers a longer service life compared to NMC alternatives. This is expected to support the vehicle's operation over hundreds of thousands of kilometers.
