The analytics platform L2BEAT has rebranded to ETHBEAT, expanding its focus beyond Layer 2 network monitoring. Announced on November 4, 2026, during Devcon 8 in Mumbai, the platform now covers privacy protocols, interoperability, ZK components, and staking.

The site reports $983 million in value locked across 16 privacy protocols, marking a 19.1% year-on-year increase. Total deposits across these protocols reached $3.94 billion, reflecting a 50.1% growth compared to the previous year.

Alongside the rebrand, the team introduced the CROPS framework to evaluate projects based on censorship resistance, openness, privacy, and security. The platform also plans to initiate research into liquid staking and monitor changes to the Ethereum base layer.

Founded in 2021, the project initially focused on tracking Total Value Locked metrics for Layer 2 networks. Over time, it shifted toward risk analysis and evaluating decentralization, with the new brand name formalizing this broader scope.
