Kobo has acknowledged a critical bug in its latest beta firmware versions 5.18.270971 and 6.0.274403. The issue affects users of the Libra Colour, Clara BW, and Clara Colour e-readers, causing errors with book data, annotations, and reading statistics.

Users report significant performance degradation, including interface lag and frequent loading prompts. Additional issues include the loss of Libby account logins, problems with sideloaded content, and failures in book synchronization features.

The company confirmed that the missing data is not permanently deleted and plans to restore it through a future software update. Kobo explicitly warned users against attempting to downgrade their firmware, as this action could lead to permanent data loss.

The engineering team is currently working on a fix for the identified issues. Kobo has not yet announced a specific release date for the corrective software update, leaving affected users to wait for further instructions.
