Zurich-based startup Klarent has secured $8 million in a seed funding round led by Mosaic Ventures, with participation from Moonfire Ventures and several angel investors, including Harris Barton and Jürgen Galler. The company, founded in 2023 by former Google engineers Asheem Panakkat and Momchil Ivanov, focuses on automating enterprise software testing.
Klarent utilizes a deterministic approach where AI models write and repair tests rather than simply running them. The platform incorporates a human-in-the-loop service to verify results. According to the founders, this method allows for greater scalability compared to probabilistic agent-based models, with one client currently performing approximately 3,500 tests daily.
The company plans to use the new capital to expand its operations in the United States and the United Kingdom. Key priorities include hiring for sales teams in these regions and further engineering development. Klarent currently employs 25 people and aims to disrupt the traditional software testing outsourcing market, which the founders estimate to be worth roughly $35 billion.
The founders identified competitors in the space, noting that firms like Octomind have raised $4.8 million, while LambdaTest secured $45 million. Klarent distinguishes its technology by emphasizing the shift from manual, labor-intensive testing processes to automated, AI-driven quality assurance that can handle complex workflows, such as those used by JD Sports.
