Kia has introduced the PV5 Chassis variant in the UK, expanding its electric light commercial vehicle lineup. This model features a two-seater cabin and an exposed rear frame designed for aftermarket modifications, such as box vans, food trucks, ambulances, and campers. The company is collaborating with TGS Automotive Group to develop these conversions, with more options expected to launch later this year.
The PV5 Chassis is available exclusively in the Long-Range configuration for the UK market. It is equipped with a 71.2 kWh battery and a front-mounted electric motor producing 161 hp. This setup provides an estimated WLTP range of 259 miles. In other global markets, the vehicle is also offered as a Mid-Range version with a 51.5 kWh battery and a 120 hp motor.
Despite its utilitarian design, the vehicle maintains a 2,995 mm wheelbase and an overall length of 4,610 mm. The interior includes a 7.5-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, heated seats, and wireless charging. Both the Long-Range and Mid-Range variants support a maximum payload capacity of 1,005 kg.
The PV5 remains the core light commercial vehicle for Kia until the larger PV7 van arrives in the second half of 2027. The chassis variant retains the front-end design of the standard PV5 Cargo and Passenger models, while utilizing 16-inch wheels and a custom bulkhead with a rear windshield.
