Jeffrey Katzenberg’s new AI startup is currently in talks to utilize OpenAI’s video-generation model, Sora. The startup aims to develop professional video solutions for the film industry. The project is co-founded by Katzenberg, former OpenAI Sora lead Bill Peebles, and former Dropbox CFO Sujay Jaswa.
OpenAI previously paused consumer-facing development of the Sora model. The proposed collaboration could allow the startup to customize and commercialize the technology. In exchange for access to the model, OpenAI may receive an equity stake in the unnamed startup.
The partnership could signal a shift in OpenAI’s strategy regarding its video initiatives. Market observers are awaiting official announcements concerning the startup’s identity and product details, as well as confirmation of the potential equity involvement.
