Juna, a joint venture between Scania and Sennder, currently operates a fleet of approximately 110 electric trucks across Germany, Italy, Poland, and the Netherlands. The company aims to expand this fleet to around 150 vehicles by the end of 2026. Since its launch in 2024, the fleet has covered a total of 3.9 million kilometres.

The venture utilizes a pay-per-use model to lower entry barriers for transport firms, as electric trucks currently cost two to three times more than diesel equivalents. This service allows operators to avoid direct vehicle financing. Juna also provides route analysis services to support logistics companies in their transition to electric transport.

A recent partnership with DHL Freight demonstrates this model, where logistics provider Pflaum secured 20 electric trucks for a five-year term. This agreement allows Pflaum to integrate these vehicles into its existing fleet of 45 electric trucks. Other notable clients utilizing Juna’s services for regional logistics include Nestlé and Beiersdorf.

Founded in 2023, Juna combines Scania’s technical vehicle expertise with Sennder’s digital freight network capabilities. The company focuses on the segment of small transport operators, noting that approximately 70 per cent of European trucks are managed by companies with fewer than ten vehicles, making the pay-per-use approach a key strategy for fleet electrification.
