Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed the debate over AI development speed and safety at the Dreamforce conference on September 15, 2026. He stated that the industry does not need to choose between innovation and safety, arguing that companies can accelerate progress while pausing for genuine safety concerns.
Huang proposed that engineering solutions, market incentives, and independent audit-style testing are more effective than government regulation. He dismissed concerns regarding AI-related human extinction risks as fabricated, positioning himself against the more cautious approach advocated by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
The Nvidia executive's stance aligns with his company's business model, as Nvidia is the primary supplier of AI accelerators. Increased AI development directly drives demand for the company's hardware, whereas regulatory slowdowns could negatively impact that growth.
Following his appearance at Dreamforce, Huang spoke at the All-In Summit, where President Donald Trump supported his view by labeling AI safety concerns as a hoax. The discussion continues amid ongoing regulatory debates in Washington and Brussels regarding the future of AI oversight.
