Jensen Huang congratulated OpenAI on the release of its latest AI model, which was trained using Nvidia chips. He stated on social media that AGI has arrived, noting the progression from ChatGPT to o1 and Astra over the last four years.
OpenAI describes the Astra model as the world's most intelligent and aligned model, designed to handle demanding professional tasks with high speed and accuracy. Company President Greg Brockman also welcomed the arrival of the AGI era during a press call.
The concept of AGI remains debated. Google defines it as machine intelligence capable of performing any intellectual task a human can, while OpenAI views it as highly autonomous systems that surpass humans in most economically valuable work.
Other industry leaders hold different views. Andrew Ng believes AGI is still decades away, while Elon Musk suggested in March that Tesla's Optimus robots could lead the way toward achieving AGI.
