Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has become a key advisor to President Donald Trump on artificial intelligence policy, surpassing other tech leaders like Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon's Jeff Bezos. Trump publicly supported Huang during a call at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, where he dismissed concerns regarding the existential risks of AI as a hoax.
Huang has accompanied Trump on at least six international trips since the start of the second term, including visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and China. The CEO is also scheduled to attend a state dinner for Xi Jinping this week. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the administration's AI policy aligns closely with Huang's views.
The Nvidia executive maintains that engineering solutions, rather than government regulation, should ensure AI safety. This position contrasts with that of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who advocates for slowing the development of frontier models. Amodei's proposal has received support from Elon Musk, Demis Hassabis, and Sam Altman.
Nvidia stock rose approximately 1.3% on Friday, closing at $222.27. This marked the fourth consecutive day of gains for the company, following a brief decline after the president's comments at the summit. Investors are now watching for further developments regarding the administration's stance during the upcoming state dinner.
