Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that there is a 0% probability of artificial intelligence causing human extinction by 2030. During an interview with CBS News and a presentation at the Goldman Sachs conference on September 10, he characterized predictions of existential threats and mass unemployment as complete nonsense.

Huang did not sign the 2023 industry statement that compared AI risks to nuclear war or pandemics. He maintains that mitigating these risks should not be treated as a global priority in the way suggested by hundreds of other researchers and executives who signed the document.

Regarding safety, the CEO advocates for internal testing and independent evaluations rather than government intervention. He opposes broad regulatory frameworks or industry-wide slowdowns, arguing that companies should manage their own safety protocols.

The stance comes amid internal tension at AI labs, including resignations at Anthropic over safety concerns. While Nvidia does not develop AI models, it produces the GPUs that power most of them, making the company a central figure in the ongoing debate over AI regulation.
