Vice President JD Vance has criticized calls from major tech companies for increased government regulation of the artificial intelligence industry. He described these efforts as a Trojan horse, arguing that industry leaders are using safety concerns to entrench their market positions and exclude smaller competitors.
Vance advocates for a pro-growth policy environment, warning that excessive domestic regulation could drive innovation and capital to other jurisdictions. He views AI and digital assets as critical strategic technologies that the United States must maintain a competitive advantage in to avoid losing ground to foreign rivals.
The Vice President has previously criticized enforcement-based regulatory approaches toward the crypto sector. He supports stablecoin legislation to establish a clear legal framework for the industry, noting that the global crypto market is valued at approximately $3 trillion.
Vance has explicitly linked the policy needs of the AI and Bitcoin sectors. He has encouraged the Bitcoin community to participate in AI policy discussions, suggesting that the regulatory philosophies applied to one field will likely influence the development of the other.
