Lightstorm Vision, owned by James Cameron, has acquired Outsyders, a startup specializing in AI-driven 3D post-production. The financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed. Following the acquisition, Outsyders will integrate into Lightstorm Vision to develop a full-cycle production and post-processing pipeline for 3D content.

Founded in 2024 by Paul Becker, Jared Sandrew, and Chris Harvey, Outsyders has contributed to projects including Blue Angels, Lilo & Stitch, and Moana. The team previously collaborated with Cameron on the Billie Eilish concert film Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour. Cameron noted that the startup's AI tools enable the integration of image conversion with native stereo shooting.

The acquisition aims to reduce the time, cost, and complexity of 3D content creation. A key focus will be converting existing film and television libraries into 3D formats for VR headsets, such as Meta Quest. This deal follows Lightstorm Vision's earlier 2026 purchase of Stereotec, a company focused on 3D camera technology.
