The controversy began after a video released by Dongchedi on October 8 showed that the brake pedal bracket of three Maextro V800 vehicles broke during emergency braking tests from 100 km/h to 0. This incident triggered significant public discussion and impacted the company's financial performance on the stock market.
Following the report, JAC Motors shares hit the daily limit down on October 8, closing at ¥24.72 per share. The downward trend continued on October 9, with the stock hitting the limit down again and trading at ¥22.25 per share.
In response, Maextro issued an official statement asserting that its braking systems were developed and verified according to standards exceeding national requirements, specifically GB 21670-2025, GB 7258-2026, and the industry standard QC/T 788-2018.
The company stated that no brake pedal bracket failures have been reported by users since the first batch of vehicles was delivered. Despite this, Maextro announced plans to optimize the component design to provide higher safety margins and will offer free upgrades to existing owners.
