German startup Isar Aerospace has successfully deployed its two-stage Spectrum rocket into low Earth orbit. The launch took place from a spaceport in Norway, marking the first time a fully commercial orbital vehicle from Europe has reached its intended destination.

This achievement follows a failed attempt in March, when the rocket crashed into the sea 30 seconds after liftoff. The company now aims to provide an alternative for commercial and institutional clients who previously relied on government-backed providers like Arianespace and Avio.

CEO Daniel Metzler stated that the launch provides Europe with sovereign access to space. The development is significant as European nations seek to reduce reliance on foreign partners, including the United States and Russia, following the suspension of Soyuz rocket access.
